LCDS Awards Scholarships

Lancaster Country Day School (LCDS) awarded four $12,000 John A. Jarvis Merit Scholarships to area students. All Middle and Upper School applicants were eligible, and scholarships are renewable each year through graduation.

The scholarship honors former head of school John Jarvis, who sought to make LCDS accessible to a wide range of students. This year's recipients are Bilal Chaudhry, Ashanti Duncan, Gabriel Leskusky and Isadora Marquez.

Eighth-grader Bilal is the son of Sana and Hamid Chaudhry of Mohnton. He plays the piano and trumpet and participates in the orchestra and chess club.

Ninth-grader Ashanti is the daughter of Destinne Parker-Stewart and David Duncan, both of Reading. At her previous school, Ashanti was captain of the basketball team. She plays clarinet in the band.

Ninth-grader Gabriel is the son of Claire Malfaro and Vincent Leskusky, both of Reading. He volunteers his time for various organizations, plays the saxophone, and participated in student government and chess club at his previous school.

Seventh-grader Isadora is the daughter of Rachel Rios Marquez and Victor Marquez of Lancaster. She plays basketball and the piano, and she dances and acts in theater productions.

LCDS is a college-preparatory school founded in 1908. For more information about Jarvis Scholarships, readers may visit http://www.lancastercountryday.org/jarvis-scholarships.
