Ryan's Birthday Party Foundation Inc. will host a Denim and Diamonds gala on Sunday, Sept. 30, from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Gardens at Bethlehem Farms, 99 Slicers Mill Road, Rising Sun, Md. All proceeds from the adult-only event will help to fulfill the foundation's mission of "Helping Kids With Cancer Smile" and will fund a grant for pediatric brain cancer research.
The evening will include an upscale catered barbecue dinner, along with a mechanical bull, opportunities for dancing, a silent auction, and more. Entertainment will be provided by a disc jockey, and Kristy Breslin from a Baltimore news station will serve as master of ceremonies.
Ryan's Birthday Party Foundation was founded in May 2016 to offer hope and smiles to families through costumes and grants for research, to help children who are suffering from illness, and to support fathers who are fighting for the life of their child.
To date, the foundation has given more than 200 costumes to sick children and their siblings in more than 30 states and six countries. It also helped to fund the installation of a handicapable playground at Rising Sun Elementary School.
To purchase tickets, readers may search for "Ryan's Birthday Party Foundation Denim and Diamonds Event" at http://www.eventbrite.com. Tickets may be sold at the door, if available. Sponsorships are available, and those who would like to sponsor a table may call foundation president Anita Casteel at 443-417-6468.
Additionally, the foundation is currently holding a virtual run/walk, Dash to End ETANTR. Available distances include 1 mile, 5K, 5 miles, 10K, 10 miles, and half marathon (13.1 miles). Participants may register for their desired distance by the end of June using the link at http://www.ryansbirthdayparty.com/2018-runwalk.html. After signing up, they may complete that distance any day at any location, including on the treadmill, on their own course, or as part of another on-site race. All who sign up will receive a medal. A portion of each race registration fee will support the foundation's fight against ETANTR, a rare brain cancer.
Casteel is available to speak at organization and business meetings, as well. For more information on the foundation, including Denim and Diamonds and the Dash to End ETANTR, readers may contact Casteel or visit http://www.ryansbirthdayparty.com.
