The Appell Center, 50 N. The Appell Center has partnered with local African-American and black community leaders to curate a film series designed to welcome and engage York's diverse community.

The film series will kick off with a double feature event on Friday, March 15, with "The Wiz" at 6:30 p.m., directly followed by "Dreamgirls" at 9 p.m. After the initial double feature kickoff event, the series will continue to show one feature film each month, including classics such as "Do the Right Thing," "Love and Basketball," "Claudine," "Southside With You," "Shaft," and a First Friday family film screening of "Akeelah and the Bee."

There is a cost per ticket. Students with ID and children under age 12 may attend for free. Children age 12 and under need to be accompanied by an adult.
