The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center, located in the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown, invites area seniors to its upcoming programs. The center, a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging, is open regularly on Mondays through Fridays. On Thursday, Feb. 14, activities will include walking and pancakes at 9 a.m., a visit from a preschool class at 10 a.m., Sweet Activities at 11 a.m., and pinochle and bridge and Walk With Ease at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be pulled turkey with gravy, whipped potatoes, green beans, wheat bread, and applesauce.
The schedule on Friday, Feb. 15, will feature walking at 9 a.m., Bible study or table games at 10 a.m., History's Timeline at 11 a.m., Walk With Ease at 12:30 p.m., and a TGIF dinner and bingo at 5 p.m. Lunch will be a warm roast beef sandwich with cheese and au jus on a roll, homemade vegetable soup with crackers, and pineapple tidbits.
On Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 18, the center will be closed but open. Readers may call the center for more details.
Activities on Tuesday, Feb. 19, will be walking at 9 a.m., a morning stretch at 9:30 a.m., Nutrition With Donna at 10:15 a.m., and Reminisce at 1 p.m. Lunch will be bratwurst on a hot dog roll, sauerkraut, whipped potatoes, and warm cinnamon applesauce.
On Wednesday, Feb. 20, the center will offer walking at 9 a.m., chair exercise at 9:30 a.m., a medication take-back at 10 a.m., Shake Rattle and Roll Fun at 10:30 a.m., and the Central Penn Commodity Food Box pickup at 1 p.m. Lunch will be baked meatloaf marinara with mozzarella topping, garlic whipped potatoes, Parmesan corn, wheat bread, and banana pudding.
The senior center will hold a basket bingo on Saturday, March 2. The kitchen will open at noon, and bingo will start at 2 p.m. A total of 20 baskets will be available to win filled with items such as candy, beauty supplies, and more.
