Volleyball team holds fundraiser Pink Out

The Garden Spot girls' volleyball program hosted its Pink Out game on Oct. 5 to raise awareness of breast cancer. The booster club sponsored Cupcakes for a Cause and Flowers for Fighters.

Before the varsity match began, players handed out pink carnations and roses to women who currently had or had survived breast cancer to honor them for their courage and resiliency. Flowers were also given to spectators who had lost someone to the disease.

The team members' younger siblings accepted donations between sets and staffed the bake sale table, helping the team to raise $155 to be donated to the PA Breast Cancer Coalition in Lebanon. The coalition's activities have included contributing to research, impacting legislation and sending care packages to breast cancer patients.

Wearing their pink jerseys, the Spartans hosted Solanco. The junior varsity team played a competitive match against the Golden Mules but only took one set from them. The Spartans' varsity team dominated, winning in three sets.
