Library Posts Programs

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its updates and upcoming programs. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and require preregistration. Struggling readers may sign up for Read With Widget on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. Widget, a friendly border collie who is a certified therapy dog.

Sing, Shake, and Sway story time is set for 10:30 a.m. on Thursdays, Dec. 1 and 15, and Wednesday, Dec. 14. The program will aim to encourage young children to interact and move to songs and stories.

Families are invited to Family Story Time, which will feature stories, songs, and a craft, on Wednesday, Dec. 7, and Thursday, Dec. 8, at 10:30 a.m.

Star Wars Yoga will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 11:30 a.m.

Star Wars Day with Mr. Richard will take place on Dec. 10 at noon, and will offer "Star Wars" trivia games and crafts and and will show one of the original "Star Wars" trilogy movies based on votes via penny wars. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes.

Preschool Super Science, for children age 3 and up, will feature science-based activities focused on the theme "Building Blast" on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 10:30 a.m.

During Lego Night on Dec. 13 at 6 p.m., Legos will be provided for an evening of creative building options for all ages.

Homeschool Art, set for children age 7 and up at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, will be led by Miss Jan, who will aim to inspire imaginations using the works of a featured artist.

Family Book Bingo will be offered at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 20, with books as prizes.

Sing and Sign Story Time, slated for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 21 and 22, will incorporate basic American Sign Language to stimulate communication with young ones before their verbal communication develops.

Readers' Theatre will be offered on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m. Participants will perform short, entertaining skits for a small audience of friends and family in a performance at 11:45 a.m.

Wee Build Free Build Drop-in will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring creative and fun building with cool materials.

Thomas the Tank Engine Day on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 10:30 a.m. will include Thomas-related activities, crafts, and a movie.

Dark Order Teen Anime, led by Miss Jan for teenagers age 13 and up, will return on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 6 p.m.

Yes, You Can Paint! is a painting class for artists age 8 through adult, no matter their ability. The class will be offered on Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. and Dec. 28 at 6 p.m. Instructor and local artist Ron Meckley will teach the class using the Bob Ross method. Meckley's classes at the library for children and adults have been combined. A cost has been set, which will cover instruction and all supplies except a canvas.

Closely Knit, a group for avid knitters or those who aspire to knit, will meet at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12. Attendees may knit or crochet individual projects, and no registration is necessary.
