Band to Present Award

The New Holland Band will present its fourth annual Isaac Witwer Award to Garden Spot Fire Rescue during a brief ceremony before the band's rehearsal on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. at the ELANCO Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, in the community room, located on the second floor. The New Holland Band's music director, Fred Hughes, will present the award along with a $1,000 donation to the chief and deputy chief of Garden Spot Fire Rescue.

The Isaac Witwer Award recognizes community organizations whose contributions have made a lasting impact on the New Holland community. The award was created in honor of Isaac Witwer, who was the director of the New Holland Band from 1857 to 1888, as well as a prolific inventor and clock, watch, and organ maker. Witwer was dedicated to serving New Holland, and Garden Spot Fire Rescue is being honored this year for its dedication to serving and protecting the citizens of New Holland.
