For more than 100 years, St. Paul Penryn Lutheran Church has hosted a community picnic at a grove just down the road from the church off North Penryn Road. The picnic is typically held on the third Saturday in August.

This year, the church will not have a picnic due to upcoming upgrades at the grove facility. Instead, the church will host a community event on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. The event will be held at the church, 1258 Newport Road, Penryn, and will feature food, carnival-style games and bingo with prizes. Wristbands will be available for purchase for bingo or for children's games and activities, with proceeds helping to fund meals for students in need in both the Manheim Central and Eastern Lebanon County school districts.
