Life in Christ Church, 1027 Dillerville Road, Lancaster, will host its sixth annual Back to School Blast on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church parking lot. The event is free of charge.

The Back to School Blast helps Lancaster families to prepare for the upcoming school year. It also seeks to offer hope for families and wholesome fun.

Backpacks and school supplies will be available free of charge while supplies last. Backpacks will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and they must be reserved at the beginning of the event. 

The Back to School Blast will also include a free hot meal, games, bounce houses, face painting, and balloon art, as well as giveaway drawings for bikes, hoverboards, and gift cards. A PlayStation 5 will be the grand prize.

Last year, more than 800 people attended, and more than 270 backpacks were distributed. This year, organizers hope to welcome at least 1,000 community members.

Preregistration is encouraged but does not guarantee backpacks.
