The Lower Susquehanna Archaeological Society, Chapter 28 of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology, will host a program on Sunday, July 19, at 2 p.m. at Blue Rock Heritage Center, 2251 River Road, Washington Boro.

Teresa St. Angelo, portraying Martha Washington, will give attendees a glimpse of private life and Washington's role in supporting her husband and the nation. Afterward, St. Angelo will present a slideshow, "From Valley Forge to the Monmouth Battlefield: The Road to Victory in the American Revolution." The program will follow George Washington and his Continental Army from the brutal winter at Valley Forge to the decisive clash at Monmouth, N.J. The program will explore how perseverance, leadership, and training transformed a struggling army into a force that stood toe-to-toe with the British. Topics will include life in the winter encampment; training, discipline, and strategy; soldiers' stories of sacrifice and survival; and the Battle of Monmouth and its legacy.

St. Angelo is the director of the Winters Heritage House Museum and the Seibert Genealogy and Research Library in Elizabethtown. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in education from Rutgers University, as well as a Master of Science with a concentration in special education. With more than 20 years of experience in the classroom, she was also appointed teacher-in-residence with the Library of Congress Educational Outreach Department in Washington, D.C. A lifelong history enthusiast, St. Angelo has been an active member of the Monmouth County Historical Society and the Battleground Historical Society in New Jersey and has attended many Monmouth Battlefield re-enactments, having lived minutes from Monmouth Battlefield State Park.

The program is free of charge, and light refreshments will be provided. The facility is air-conditioned and handicapped-accessible. Parking is available near the boat launch.
