Library Posts Programs

Kreutz Creek Library (KCL), 66 Walnut Springs Road, Hellam, will offer programs and services to the community. For details and registration, call the library at 717-252-4080 or visit http://www.yorklibraries.org.

The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library will be at the library to accept donations of books on Tuesday, July 7, from noon to 6 p.m. and Thursday, July 23, from noon to 4 p.m.

The SummerQuest program will offer activities to keep everyone learning, reading, and physically active over the summer. This year's theme is "Unearth a Story." To be eligible for prizes, patrons should register at http://yorklibraries.beanstack.org using their library card and then pick up a packet at their home library.

KCL's upcoming programs include Baby and Toddler Story Time for children from birth to age 3 on Wednesdays, July 8, 15, and 29, and Preschool Story Time for children ages 3 to 5 on Fridays, July 10, 24, and 31. These programs will run from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., and reservations are required.

Kindermusik by Songbird Studios, for children birth to age 3, will be offered on Wednesdays, July 22 and Aug. 5, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Children will explore movement and language skills through dance, creative movement, echo songs, and more. Reservations are required, and space is limited.

Dino Egg Excavation, for kids age 6 and up, will be held on Thursday, July 9, from 1 to 2 p.m. Children will excavate dinosaur eggs and then use magnifying glasses to make observations. Reservations are required.

Aaron the Fossil Guy will present a program on Monday, July 13, from 10 a.m. to noon. Aaron will share information about fossils and offer opportunities to examine them up close. This program is open to people of all ages, including adults.

The library will offer a Magical Bubble Adventure on Friday, July 17, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Bubble magician River Barry will share the history and science of bubbles.

Tracking a Dinosaur with Jeri Jones, for kids age 5 and up, will take place on Thursday, July 30, from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Jones, from Jones Geological Services, will show how paleontologists learn about a dinosaur just from a footprint, and attendees will view real fossils. Jones has been a geologist for 48 years in York County and specializes in geologic education. Reservations are required.

Library Tales for Tails will be offered on Thursday, July 16, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for kids ages 6 to 11. Kids may read to certified therapy dogs Jager and Dillon from Reading Education Assistance Dogs, and they may also pet and hug the dogs. Participants may sign up for a 10-minute time slot when they arrive.

Builder's Club, for kids ages 6 to 12, will be held on July 16 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 18, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The library will provide Lego bricks, Keva Planks, K'nex, Lincoln Logs, and Magnatiles.

Tween Writing Lab - Dino Edition, for kids ages 8 to 11, will be held on July 16 from 1 to 2 p.m. Participants will design a brochure for their own dinosaur-themed park. Reservations are required.

The Danger Club, for tweens ages 9 to 11, will meet on Tuesday, July 14, for a hike and mystery activity at Kline's Run Park. The hike will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. and will count toward the Get Outdoors (GO) York! program. Parents and caregivers must stay with their children. Siblings are welcome to attend. In the case of inclement weather, call the library for updates.

The Library Squad, for people ages 9 to 18, will gather on Tuesday, July 21, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Participants will help to create and implement library programming for their age group.

Manga Book Club, for youths ages 12 to 18, will meet on July 18 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. This program will occur after the library is closed to the public. Only teens attending this program will be allowed inside.

Lindsay K. Bandy, author of "Inevitable Fate," will offer a workshop for writers ages 12 to 18 on July 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. She will lead participants through writing exercises and discussions about what stories can teach people about themselves and each other over time. Attendees will receive a signed copy of Bandy's book. Reservations are required.

People ages 12 to 18 may design and make a resin bookmark at the library on July 21 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. All materials will be provided.

A Teen Trinket Show and Tell will be held on Tuesday, July 28, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Collectors ages 12 to 18 are invited to attend and bring a favorite trinket.

The library will offer Drawing for All from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursdays through July 23, with no program on July 2. Youths age 10 and up, as well as adults, may join local artist Robert Oughton for an opportunity to develop their drawing skills and learn how to work with a variety of techniques. Participants should bring something to draw on and something to draw with.

Stitch and Chat groups, for knitters and crocheters, will meet on July 2 and 16 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. and July 8 and 22 from noon to 1:45 p.m.

The Treat Your Shelf Book Club, for adults, will meet on July 2 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Attendees may read, enjoy snacks, and discuss books.

The Green Thumb Garden Club will meet on July 9 from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Melanie Markowski will share "What Garden Flowers Thrive in July Heat?"

York Chess Club, for people of all ages, will be held on July 7, 14, and 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Death Cafe Book Club will meet on July 28 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Attendees will discuss "Some Bright Nowhere" by Ann Packer. The program is for people struggling with loss. Registration is required, and copies of the book are available for checkout at the library.

The Kreutz Creek Cookbook Group will meet on July 23 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. The theme will be "Americana." Attendees should bring a sweet or savory prepared dish based on the theme and a copy of the recipe.

The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library will meet on Monday, July 20, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
