Gretna Music will hold the 40th annual Mount Gretna Tour of Homes on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This self-guided walking tour invites visitors to explore 10 distinctive homes, three historic buildings, and outdoor art throughout Mount Gretna, rain or shine.

Proceeds from ticket sales will support Gretna Music, which is celebrating its 51st season of presenting live music - including classical, jazz, and world music performed at the Mount Gretna Playhouse.

Among this year's featured homes is La Bella Zucca, a 1900s cottage tucked along the tree-lined paths of Mount Gretna. The owners purchased the home in 2022 and soon began renovations. Inspired by the warmth of the interior wood beams and woodwork - which transported them back to trips to Italy - the couple chose a rich Tuscan color scheme to guide the remodel. The structure includes eight stained-glass windows, and the front porch provides a clandestine view of the open-air Mount Gretna Playhouse.

Another home on the tour is the Cottage. Originally built in 1920, the home has been updated and well maintained over the years, requiring only a few additional improvements. Although modest in size at 790 square feet, the home has an efficient layout. The front porch has become a serene retreat for the owners.

The map will also guide the tourgoer to three recent outdoor art installments and three historic buildings, including the Mount Gretna Area Historical Society.

Tickets are limited. To purchase tickets in advance for a discounted fee, call 717-361-1508, visit http://www.gretnamusic.org, or stop by the Mount Gretna Visitor Information Center through Friday, July 31. Tickets will be sold at full price on the day of the event outside the Mount Gretna Post Office, 101 Princeton Ave. Tickets will be discounted for children age 12 and under. Tickets may be exchanged for a map and wristband on the day of the tour.
