Servant Stage will present "Anne of Green Gables" in the High Performing Arts Center at Lancaster Mennonite School, 2176 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster. Performances will take place on Fridays, Sept. 4, 11, 18 and 25, at 7 p.m.; Saturdays, Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26, at 11 a.m. & 3 p.m.; and Sundays, Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27, at 3 p.m.

Based on L.M. Montgomery's classic novel, the family-friendly musical celebrates imagination, belonging, and the transformative power of love and friendship. It is known as Canada's longest-running musical, having been performed every summer at the Charlottetown Festival in Prince Edward Island, beginning in 1965.

Servant Stage's production features a cast of more than 40 performers, as well as a full orchestra, period costumes, and set pieces intended to bring to life the village of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island. The production is directed by Johnathan Bauer.

"Anne of Green Gables" focuses on Anne Shirley, an imaginative, talkative orphan girl with a vivid imagination and an irrepressible spirit. She is adopted by the aging Cuthberts, who had hoped to adopt a young boy to help on their farm, Green Gables. Although Anne's fiery personality and endless curiosity often lead her into trouble, she gradually wins over the hearts of Marilla, Matthew, and the entire community of Avonlea.
