Jewelry and Gift Sale Planned

The Friends of the Library will host a Mother's Day jewelry and gift sale at Quarryville Library, 357 Buck Road, Quarryville, on Thursday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to noon. Special categories of jewelry will include "It's All Black and White," "From the Sea," "Boho," "Pearls, Pearls, Pearls - Not Really," and "Are You a Princess or a Pirate?" In addition, the sale will include small non-jewelry gift items and baked goods.

The jewelry sale has become an annual tradition for the volunteers who spend weeks curating thousands of donated pieces. Donna Trimble of Quarryville has managed the sale for three years, and her home is the organizing hub leading up to the event. She invests many hours finding tiny makers' marks stamped on pieces, researching the origins of items when possible, and organizing the mountain of donated jewelry to help shoppers find what they are looking for.
