Quarryville Library Center, 357 Buck Road, Quarryville, has posted its upcoming activities.

The library will hold a restaurant fundraiser in April. Fifteen percent of all sales on Tuesdays, April 21 and 28, at Sam's Pizza, 2 E. State St., Quarryville, will benefit the library. The fundraiser applies to curbside pickups, takeouts, and dine-in meals, but it excludes alcohol.

In addition, the library will celebrate National Library Week from Sunday, April 19, to Saturday, April 25. First celebrated in 1958, National Library Week is sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April. The observance recognizes the ways that libraries bring people together, spark imagination, and support lifelong learning.

Special events during National Library Week will include Earth Day Fun with the Lancaster County Master Gardeners on April 21 at 4:30 p.m. Attendees will hear a story about planting seeds.

A Special Guest Story Time will be held on Wednesday, April 22, at 10:30 a.m. A guest from the Lancaster YWCA will read a collection of stories intended to foster empathy, resilience, and mindfulness.

A chicken barbecue, book sale, and plant sale will take place on April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets for the chicken barbecue, prepared by Wakefield Lions Club, may be purchased in advance at the library's circulation desk. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the event.

The Quarryville Library is marking its 50th anniversary this year. Its mission is to provide the freedom to read, spark curiosity, and empower the community with knowledge, while meeting the cultural and social needs of southern Lancaster County. The library offers services like free Wi-Fi, hotspot rentals, notary services, and digital collections, with the goal of ensuring that everyone has access to resources that educate, inspire, and connect.
