School Appoints Interim Leader

The Montessori Academy of Lancaster has announced the appointment of a new interim head of school, Melissa Gaeta. She was scheduled to take on her new role following the retirement of head of school Karen Rubenstein in May.

During Rubenstein's more than 23 years of service, she guided the Montessori Academy through a period of growth and transformation. Under her leadership, the campus experienced multiple expansions intended to strengthen learning environments for students and families. Notably, Rubenstein led the school through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, seeking to ensure continuity of education while maintaining a strong sense of community. She is a strong advocate for Montessori peace education.

Gaeta has a strong background in Montessori elementary education along with leadership experience as a child care director. Her career reflects a commitment to nurturing young learners, supporting educators, and fostering inclusive school communities aligned with Montessori principles.

Montessori Academy alumni, family members, and friends may submit well wishes for Rubenstein by emailing CelebratingKaren@montlanc.com.
