What is the mission of What the Food Trucks, an event set for Sept. 6 in Penn Park?

For 20,000-plus people, it's about the food: more than 40 food trucks around a city park and a day to spend eating and drinking with friends. But for us, it's about community. It's about bringing people together for an entire day in York on a holiday weekend and showing out-of-towners what York is all about.

Why is the event excited to participate in Give Local York this year?

We believe that event life builds up York City, but we're faced with the fact that many organizations are changing their funding model and not including already-existing events. We are using this year's Give Local York campaign to raise funds to pay our regional musicians and stage teams to bring more entertainment to What the Food Trucks. We want people to come to spend their day with us on a holiday weekend in York and show off our city.
