CCHC To Present Online Trivia Night

Community members are invited to test their knowledge of Pennsylvania pop culture during an online Trivia Night to be presented on Thursday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. by the Chester County History Center (CCHC).

Participants will answer questions about music, musicians, films and actors related to Pennsylvania. For example, questions may revolve around singer Taylor Swift, who hails from the Reading area.

The trivia event will be held via Zoom, and the winner will receive a swag bag of prizes and a gift card to Saloon 151, located at 151 W. Gay St., West Chester.

Trivia Night will be hosted by Erin Nucifora, CCHC marketing coordinator, and Lindsay Campellone, educator coordinator. A nominal fee will be charged to participate. "A fee is charged per computer, so if you want to get (family members) or a small group together that is socially distant, you will pay one fee," explained Nucifora. "It will be run through Kahoot. Kahoot is an online trivia platform used in schools, but it's also a great platform for things like this - for fun."

Those who register for the event will receive a Zoom link and they will answer the multiple-choice trivia questions through their phone. "You will see the questions on your Zoom screen, and you pick the corresponding answer on your phone," Nucifora explained, noting that Kahoot keeps track of the players' scores. "They usually give you 20 to 30 seconds to answer." The winner will be based on the number of correct answers and the amount of time in which the questions were answered.

Enjoying Trivia Night is a great way to have fun - all without leaving home. "We did a test run with our co-workers and everyone had a great time," Nucifora noted.

Trivia Night is just one of several online programs being offered by CCHC. "We have a bunch of Zoom lectures coming up with interesting topics," said Nucifora. "We started virtual programming as a result of COVID to keep people interested in what we are doing. (Trivia Night) is for people looking to have a fun night in."

Upcoming events include an online book discussion on Thursday, Jan. 21, from 10 to 11:15 a.m. The topic will be "Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents" by Isabel Wilkerson. As part of its History Matters Speaker Series, "Chilling Reality" will be presented on Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The program will feature the stories of four Arctic explorers from Chester County.

The CCHC, a nonprofit community museum located at 225 N. High St., West Chester, is also open for tours by appointment. In-person admission is subject to change based on local COVID-19 restrictions. "We prefer people sign up on our website and they walk through the museum with masks on," noted Nucifora. "We have a new exhibit that opened in October called 'Becoming Chester County.'"
