Library Posts Event Schedule

Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Ave., Hershey, will offer virtual programs and classes for the whole family. Readers may check http://www.hersheylibrary.org for program details and registration.

Books & Babies, 1, 2, Whee! and story time sessions are part of the library's early childhood literacy program, Cruise into Kindergarten. Programs will be held on Facebook Live at http://www.facebook.com/hersheypubliclibrary or on Zoom. The programs will run through Thursday, Feb. 18. Dates vary by program.

Children age 6 and older may register for the library's virtual Lego Club. Meetings will be held at 3:45 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from Jan. 20 to May 12.

A community blood drive will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 19, from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Potential donors may call the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank at 800-771-0059 to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins at the library may have to wait if appointments are already scheduled at that time. Masks are required. COVID-19 antibody testing is available with each successful blood donation. A form of ID is required to donate.

Bryson Leidich will present Photoshop Tone Control and B&W Conversion on Saturday, Feb. 6. The Zoom class will explore intermediate to advanced tone control methods in Photoshop.

Art of Truth: Creative Non-Fiction, a virtual writing class for adults hosted by Laura English, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sundays, Feb. 7 to March 14. In this class, participants can choose to write memoirs, essays, biographies, epistles, lyric essays, meditations, or a combination of several forms. The class will be held on Google Meet, which is similar to Zoom. Registration is available at http://www.eventbrite.com.

The Great Backyard Bird Count, an international effort by the Cornell Ornithology Lab, the Audubon Society, and Birds Canada, will take place at the library on Friday, Feb. 12, and Saturday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Families can register for a time slot to participate. Participants will hang out in the library's Reading Garden while they tally the birds they see. The library will provide a tally sheet and a guide to common birds. Participants will do the counting, and the library will upload everyone's results to the main site.
