The Spirit Of The Holidays

Lititz Decorating Contest Held

Lititz Springs Park held its first Holiday House Decorating Contest in the 17543 ZIP code. Nearly 25 houses participated in the competition, which was held from Dec. 11 to midnight on Dec. 24. The winner was announced on Dec. 26. The contest was hosted by Laurel Avenue Lights.

The idea was to hold an event that focused on holiday spirit while maintaining social distancing. Area residents were invited to vote for their favorite houses. Organizers held a successful July Fourth House Decorating Contest in 2020 as well.

Rather than specifying categories, the contest was designed for voters to choose one overall winner. Participants, who were required to purchase a yard sign to designate their home for voting, were asked to keep their displays family-friendly and festive. Organizers encouraged creativity in colors, lights, music, and greenery.

When the competition was over, organizer Rich Motz noted that the event was a success and that the winner was clear. With more than 250 votes out of a total of 1,032, the home of Dennis and Theresa Cross, located at 583 Crosswinds Drive, Lititz, prevailed. The winning display was up until Jan. 1.
