Architectural Firm Wins Awards

Richard F. Mulá Architects received three Merit Awards from the Keystone Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction awards. The accolades, which recognize local member contractor firms for their work performed on regional construction projects, went to the team of Benchmark Construction Inc. and Mulá Architects.

According to Richard Mulá, founder and principal of the firm that bears his name, the three projects that received the Merit Award are WellSpan Urgent Care, Annville; Penn State Health Medical Group - Prospect, Columbia; and Rhoads Energy, Lancaster.

The WellSpan Urgent Care project, the first WellSpan Urgent Care in Lebanon County, will be the prototype for future facilities. The 5,000-square-foot new construction has six exam rooms, an X-ray suite and a laboratory for testing.

The Penn State Health Medical Group - Prospect, formerly Mountville, is an adaptive reuse project converting retail space into 8,000 square feet of offices for providers, with exam rooms and a walk-in lab. The building features a modern design to improve the patient's health care experience.

The Rhoads Energy headquarters is another adaptive reuse project. The 16,000-square-foot facility almost doubles the previous location headquarters. The workspace includes a hands-on training facility for the company's HVAC technicians, a display room to showcase products, a new conference space and four additional bays for parking.

Mulá Architects worked as a team with Benchmark Construction Inc. on each of the projects from design through construction. Mulá Architects has offices in Lancaster and York. For more information readers may visit http://www.mula-architects.com.
