Hiking Club Plans Outings

York Hiking Club will host several hikes in March. For additional details, readers may visit http://www.yorkhikingclub.com or the club's Facebook page. Participants should bring water, snacks and a lunch and wear good walking shoes or hiking boots. COVID-19 guidelines, including social distancing and wearing masks when social distancing is not possible, will be followed. Carpooling will not be provided by York Hiking Club. In the case of inclement weather, readers should contact the hike leader or check the club's Facebook page for cancellation information.

A 7-mile hike to Pole Steeple Overlook at Pine Grove State Park will be offered on Sunday, March 21. Those who tackle the trail, which includes some very steep climbs, will be rewarded by the view at the overlook. Participants should meet at York County School of Technology, 2179 S. Queen St., York, to depart at 8 a.m. The hike will begin at the Fuller Lake Day Use Area parking lot. Hike leader Alan Noble may be contacted at 717-758-8470 or amnoble@live.com.

An 8-mile hike on the Ranger Trail at Codorus State Park will take place on Sunday, March 28. The Ranger Trail is a multiuse trail primarily designed for horses, but there are sections of the trail that are overcrowded by low-lying shrubs. The group will depart from York County School of Technology at 8 a.m. The hike leader is Noble.
