West Willow To Welcome New Car Show

On Saturday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., First Responders Friends will host the inaugural Pequea Township Classic Car Show in conjunction with the West Willow Fire Company. This will be a rain-or-shine event and will take place at the West Willow Fire Company. On the day of the event, West Willow Road will be closed from Millwood Road to Cobblestone Drive.

There will be same-day registration for vehicles, which will include a lunch voucher. The first 200 cars registered will receive a souvenir dash plaque and a goodie bag. The dash plaque will be sponsored by Melanie B. Scheid Funeral Directors and the goodie bags by Jaxxon Promotions. The West Willow Fire Company will provide chicken barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs, and beverages for purchase. Music will be provided by DJ Rob Mullins, and Life Mennonite Fellowship Church will have a yard sale.

At 2:15 p.m., 10 trophies will be awarded, including best of show, people's choice, best motorcycle, best truck, best of Pequea Township, most original, best paint, modern muscle, best engine, and First Responders' choice.

All vehicles are welcome to register. "It can be cars, trucks, motorcycles, sports cars, modern cars ... anything goes," said First Responders Friends member Bob Heckrote. "We're hoping this inaugural event will be a way for the community to come together."

The First Responder Friends will also host their seventh annual Conestoga Classic Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Conestoga on Main Street.

"We're hoping this new event will be like the Conestoga car show where people have cookouts on their front yards and hang out all day," said First Responders Friends member Joel Herzog.
