Church Plans Gospel Concert

Gospel singer Dusty Aleman will perform in concert at Grace Chapel, 2535 Colebrook Road, Elizabethtown, on Sunday, May 16, at 6 p.m. in the church pavilion.

Aleman grew up in a small town in southcentral Texas. He graduated from high school and later was drafted into the Army, where he spent a tour in Vietnam in 1966 and 1967. Aleman started riding in rodeos when he came back from Vietnam. By the time he was 38, Aleman had been through two marriages and several relationships in between. He had participated in rodeos, worked construction, and driven trucks, and he had also been introduced to illegal drugs.

In July 1984, Dusty left Texas and moved to Oklahoma hoping to start a new life. In September 1984, Dusty attempted twice to take his life, but he realized God had other plans for him. In October, Dusty met Myrna and they were married the following year. In 1989, Dusty found Jesus Christ. In his life before Christ, Dusty had sung in dances, clubs, and bars. He loved to sing, and he realized he needed to sing about Jesus Christ.
