Church Posts Shredding, Food Drive Event

First United Methodist Church, 64 W. Chocolate Ave., Hershey, will host a Shred Hunger event on Saturday, May 22, from 9 to 11 a.m. The event, which is open to the public, will offer free document shredding by Shred-It and a food drive for local hunger relief organizations.

Only sensitive documents that require shredding, including papers that contain personal information such as full social security numbers or credit card numbers, should be brought to the event.

Attendees may donate items for three organizations. Nonperishable food items will be accepted for the Hershey Food Bank, which is in need of jelly, creamy peanut butter, canned peas, canned fruits, pickles, olives, breadcrumbs, granola bars, toaster pastries and popcorn. Those who wish to support Bethesda Mission may donate No. 10 size cans of vegetables. Giant gift cards will be accepted for Family Promise.

Donations will be accepted at the church's upper parking lot with drive-through drop-off in the alley at the rear of the church.
