Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre will present Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" as its summer show. The musical will be featured from Thursday, June 3, through Wednesday, July 21.

"Beauty and the Beast" tells the tale of Belle, a young girl in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved before time runs out, the curse will be broken, and he will be transformed into his former self.

Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, the stage version includes all of the original songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, such as "Belle," "Be Our Guest" and "Gaston," along with new songs by Menken and Tim Rice. The original Broadway production ran for more than 13 years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

For the second time with Prather Productions, Jennie Nasser will play the part of Belle. Nasser has been seen in other Prather Productions as Sophie in "Mamma Mia" and Annette in "Saturday Night Fever." She has toured internationally as the lead soloist, singing aboard Aida Cruiseline and performing for audiences in Germany and the Canary Islands.

Playing the Beast is Nicholas J. Pearson, whom audiences may remember as the Lion in Dutch Apple's "The Wizard of Oz"; he also toured around the world playing that role.

Dutch Apple continues to follow state guidelines and mandates while seeking to provide a meal and entertainment in a safe and socially distanced environment.
