Troutman Earns All-State Honor

Brandy Troutman, a member of the Royals field hockey team at Eastern Mennonite University (EMU), Harrisonburg, Va., was recently named to the All-State First Team, voted on by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). Troutman is a junior from Mountville.

She was also selected to the All-ODAC Second Team after the season, and she collected ODAC Player of the Week and Royals Athlete of the Week during the season.

Troutman was a consistent threat on both sides of the field to help lead the Royals to one of their best seasons in a decade, finishing .500 and just narrowly missing the postseason. For the second season in a row, Troutman led the nation in defensive saves, this time being alone at the top with eight. Troutman collected 17 defensive saves in the 2019 season to share the lead in the nation and break EMU's single season record.

During a three-game stretch, Troutman made the game-winning goal in each game, finding herself on top of the national leaderboard for all of Division III.

This is the second time Troutman has been selected to the All-State Team, having been selected to the Second Team after the 2019 season.
