HAHS Anniversary Celebration To Include Open House

As part of the Hummelstown Area Historical Society's 50th anniversary celebration, the public is invited to visit the 1908 History House, 32 W. Main St., during an open house on Sunday, June 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. Hosts will be board members Linda Fenical and Jean Seibert.

During the event, visitors may purchase notecards designed by Ann Holte and Picture Perfect Productions featuring scenes from the Hummelstown Quilt, which is on display. There will also be an opportunity to see the Children and Baby Quilt Show for the last time, before the quilts are returned to their owners. Publications about the history of the Hummelstown area will be for sale.

Options will be available outdoors, as well. Visitors will be able to see the dogwood tree planted to commemorate the historical society's 50th anniversary, and they may enjoy the backyard, which was recently spruced up by Lower Dauphin Volunteen Club and members of the Hummelstown Rotary Club. They may also sit on the front porch and take in the sights of Main Street as the Brightbill family did over 100 years ago. The porch was recently washed and cleaned by the Linda Fenical family.

There will also be an opportunity to become a member of the Hummelstown Area Historical Society.

The regular business hours at the 1908 History House are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays and 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.
