Solanco Holds Rubicon Wrestling Camp

Solanco head coach Tony Mendez and his staff held their Rubicon Wrestling Camp, for 7th through 12th grade, June 17-19 at the Solanco wresting room. Camp clinicians and former Solanco standout wrestlers included Dan Neff and Ronnie Perry along with Quintin Perez.

"We had all but 40 kids so it was a great turnout," said Mendez. "We're always looking for more wrestlers so this was an opportunity for kids to give it a try."

Neff was Solanco's first PIAA state champ, an NCAA All-American, a four-time NCAA D1 qualifier and is an assistant coach at Navy University.

"I love coming to this camp. It's always nice to give back," said Neff who was making his fifth appearance as a featured clinician on June 17. "The community is so involved and now we have this beautiful facility. I appreciate all the people who have helped me along the way," he added. "Wrestling can take you places you don't expect. It can open doors and teach you life lessons."

Perry is an assistant coach at Lock Haven University and the women's head coach. He was a PIAA 7th place finisher for Solanco, a 2018 runner-up, and a three-time NCAA D1 qualifier.

Also featured was Perez, a three-time National qualifier, a two-time SoCon Champ and a two-time U23 Bronze medalist.

The campers experienced live wrestling and cross-fit training and were exposed to techniques, personal development, goal setting and training methods used in some of the best college programs in the country.
