DCLS Posts Programs

Dauphin County Library System (DCLS) will offer a variety of programs and activities to the community. Many programs will be offered virtually. Registration is required for most programs. For details and registration, visit http://www.dcls.org/events or visit a DCLS library.

Curbside Lunches to Go will be offered for free to children age 18 and under on Mondays through Thursdays from noon to 1:30 p.m. at East Shore Area Library, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Madeline L. Olewine Memorial Library, and from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. at William H. & Marion C. Alexander Family Library. Snacks will also be available at all library locations on Fridays and weekends. No lunches will be distributed on Monday, July 5.

The "Reading Colors Your World" Summer Reading Club will run from Thursday, July 1, through Tuesday, Aug. 31, at all library locations. For details, visit http://www.dcls.org/src or visit a local library.

Youth Services staff will host pop-up events at 10 a.m. on July 1 at Madeline L. Olewine Memorial Library; on Thursday, July 15, at Saussaman Park, 600 N. Paxtang Ave., Harrisburg; on Thursday, July 22, at Kunkel Plaza, North Front and State streets, Harrisburg; and on Thursday, July 29, at Walnut Street Bridge Plaza, Front and Walnut streets, Harrisburg.

Many programs will be offered virtually via Zoom, including Cartooning in Color with Joe Wos at 6 p.m. on July 1; Preschool Storytime at 10 a.m. on Fridays; Tween Dungeons and Dragons at 4 p.m. on Fridays; Color Yoga with Peaceful Poses Yoga for Kids at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, and at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 8; Family Storytime at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays; Toddler Storytime at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays; College Planning 101 at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7; Born to Read at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays; and Music Play Patrol: African Drum Circle at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13, and 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 15.

Also, the Next Chapter Book Club: "The Starless Sea" by Erin Morgenstern at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13; Live and Learn Series: T.M. Chester and the Black Press from 4 to 6 p.m. on July 15; Magnificent Macaws at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 20, and at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 22; Novel Thoughts Too! at 1 p.m. on July 20; Animal Crossing: New Horizons from 4 to 6 p.m. on July 20; Color with Amy June Bates at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21; RPG Sampler Series from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on July 21; Andrew's Big Show at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, and at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 29; Spanish Language Conversation Group at noon on Wednesday, July 28; Crafternoon With the Library at 4 p.m. on July 28; and Lawyers in Libraries: Answers to Your Consumer Protection Questions on July 29 at 5:30 p.m.

Programs offered virtually via Discord will include Discord Hangouts: Chat on Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m. for teens ages 13 to 18; Discover Table-Top RPGs from 4 to 6 p.m. on Fridays; Teen Dungeons and Dragons: Curse of Strahd from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays; Discord Hangouts: Gaming from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays; and YA Book Club from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Librarians on Twitch, where two Youth Services staff members play popular video games for the first time, will be available from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, July 1, 15, and 29, at http://www.twitch.tv/dclsteenhangout and is open to tweens and teens ages 11 to 18.

Novel Thoughts Book Club will discuss "Something in the Water" by Catherine Steadman from 6 to 7 p.m. on July 6 at William H. & Marion C. Alexander Family Library. No registration is required.

The Susquehanna Folk Festival featuring Andy's Wild Amphibian Show will be livestreamed from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, at http://www.sfmsfolk.org. The program is open to the entire family.

Grow With Google Series: Digital Skills for Everyday Tasks will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, on Google Meet.
