Midget Football Association To Host Fundraiser

The Solanco Midget Football Association will host its inaugural "Barbecue and Beer" fundraising event on Saturday, Aug. 14. This rain-or-shine event will take place at the Osbornia Farm, 74 Clendenin Road., Quarryville, from 5 to 9 p.m.

As a nonprofit organization, the mission of the Solanco Midget Football Association is to instruct youths in the skills of football so they can play, have fun, and make friends. One of the association's top priorities is fundraising for the midget football program.

"We care about the kids and the program, so we try our best to keep the cost down for parents," said Jen Harris, president of the association.

At the event, there will be a silent auction featuring sports memorabilia signed by professional athletes, giveaways, music, a photo booth, and a cornhole tournament. A prize will be given to the winning cornhole team.

"This event will be super fun," stated Harris. "We didn't get to have a season last year due to COVID, so I look at this like a nice welcome back event."

Ticket purchases will provide attendees with food and beverages from Enck's Custom Catering. A limited number of tickets are available and must be purchased in advance at https://bit.ly/bbqandbeer.

"We wanted to get the community involved in a fundraising event to support the association," said association treasurer Brian Robertson. "We're like a big family and want to keep the program going for another 40 years."

Harris noted that this event will be different than what the association has done in the past. "Our board members try to get creative and do things out of the box," she stated.
