Love Your Creation At New Creations Studio

Although not new to Strasburg, New Creations Studio Inc., Hair and Nail Design Boutique is new to 9 E. Main St. Last month, New Creations Studio celebrated its one-year anniversary in its new location, so owner and stylist Lisa Frankford decided to share her story with the Lampeter-Strasburg (L-S) community.

Frankford worked from home as a cosmetologist while raising her family. In 2004, she opened her own salon at 6 S. Decatur St., which was known as Shear Changes Hair Design. In May 2007, Frankford's daughter, Nicole Brown, graduated from cosmetology school and joined the team at Shear Changes. As time went on, Frankford realized that if she wanted to expand her business' services, she would have to relocate to a bigger space. As a result, Frankford and her team moved across the street to 11 S. Decatur St. on Jan. 3, 2008, and renamed the salon New Creations Studio. This location served the stylist team well for 12 years until July 2020, when the business relocated to 9 E. Main St. and updated its website with the help of Alaina Rowe Photography.

"We took a step of faith and trusted God that this was where He wanted us," added Brown. "God opened every door that needed to be open for us to make the move."

Frankford noted that New Creations Studio is a God-centered beauty salon. One of the goals of New Creations Studio is to support ministries that give back to the community, said Frankford. During their journey, Frankford and Brown connected with LS Together, a ministry-based organization that allocates resources for families in need within the L-S School District. "When there is a need, the L-S community comes together to fill that need," stated Frankford. "None of us know what the future holds, and we look forward to being able to serve more."

In addition to serving the community, New Creations Studio has given future cosmetologists an opportunity to sharpen their skills. The Associate Program at New Creations Studio is a comprehensive, hands-on experience that provides training in areas such as technical skills, guest handling, and business building. "Associates work hand in hand with the stylists and learn trust and confidence behind the chair with this program," explained Brown. "This is a career that is very rewarding."

Brown noted that she is very thankful to be in the L-S community because it is like a big family. "We lost my aunt in February, and the community just swarmed together and supported us," she said. "That's why we try to give back."

"I continue to pinch myself because this is our happy place," stated Frankford. "There are so many hair salons and barber shops, but it's not about competition. It's about serving the community."
