Church Raises Funds For Bee Hive Project

St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 222 N. Broad St., Lititz, recently collected more than $745 for its vacation Bible school (VBS) mission project, which was to donate funds to Heifer International for the organization's bee hive project. With the money collected by St. Luke's, approximately 24 honeybee packages can be purchased.

A Heifer honeybee donation includes a bee package, a hive, a box and training in beekeeping techniques. The project is intended to increase the global honeybee population to support the environment; boost families' income through sales of honey, wax and pollen; and stimulate growth of families' crops through pollination.

Heifer International works in 21 countries around the world to strengthen local economies and build secure livelihoods that guarantee a living income to local farmers.
