Exhibit To Feature Sculpted Wood Art

Kevin Bedgood will return to Mulberry Art Studios in September to display "Dreams," his latest collection of sculpted wood art. A First Friday reception will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 3, and the exhibit will run until Thursday, Sept. 30.

"Dreams" is about the future. This show is an exploration of design and relationship concepts, seeking new directions of artistic expression. Bedgood has been experimenting with new tools and processes as well as playing with negative space and how it relates to the shapes around it. He works with new shapes and with ideas and studies the visual impact made by his pieces. Often his pieces will involve turning multiple pieces of wood and then segmenting them and reassembling the pieces.

Bedgood has been working with wood since childhood, and the last 25 years have been an exploration of the boundaries of woodturning. The primary tool for his sculpting is a wood lathe. He is also a teacher and demonstrator and has traveled throughout the U.S. and as far away as Australia to share his craft.
