Berks County Libraries Offer Indoor Color Blind Glasses

A reveal ceremony was held at the Village Library of Morgantown in June to unveil special glasses for color blind patrons to use outdoors. Berks County Public Libraries recently announced that eight pairs of EnChroma color blind glasses for use indoors are now available as part of the countywide collection. The new additions will join eight pairs of outdoor color blind glasses currently circulating throughout the county.

Since the glasses' introduction, there have been at least 28 requests for them. Following the successful launch of the outdoor version, the library system decided to purchase indoor color blind glasses as well.

Both the indoor and outdoor color blind glasses are available in three styles: adult, adult fit over and children's. All glasses will be housed at the library system headquarters in Leesport and will travel to any of the 23 member library locations when requested. Local libraries in the system include the Village Library of Morgantown and the Boone Area Library in Birdsboro.

Library patrons interested in borrowing color blind glasses should place a hold through the countywide catalog or speak with a library staff member for assistance. To view the different versions online, visit http://www.berkslibraries.org and enter "color blind glasses" in the search bar.
