Two members of the Kiwanis Club of Middletown attended the Pennsylvania District of Kiwanis Convention on Aug. 21. The event was held at the Hilton Harrisburg Hotel.

At the convention, the Kiwanis Club of Middletown was honored by the Pennsylvania District Foundation with the Century Award and the Patron Award for the club's impact on the foundation through its support of the foundation's work. The club members especially wanted to support the Key Leader program, which aids teenagers in gaining confidence by helping others succeed through a variety of teambuilding activities.

The Kiwanis Club of Middletown also recently packaged four cases of new and gently used books, totaling 373 books. They loaded, transported, and delivered the cases to the Pennsylvania District of Kiwanis Convention. Other Kiwanis clubs supported the book drive as well. The books were distributed to local children's organizations through the BookSmiles organization, which focuses on getting books to children in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
