Smoky, Moody, Fun ... Lititz Gala Makes A Comeback

Rebecca Branle, executive director of Venture Lititz, enjoyed writing the Eventbrite description of the 2021 Lititz Gala, which will have a "Film Noir" theme. Choosing descriptions like "fatale-inspired dresses, fedoras, and dark lips" to promote the event, Branle admitted, "I had some fun with the copy. You need copy that's as much fun as the theme."

A Night Out With Venture Lititz Gala will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Brownstone Manor, 2 W. Orange St., Lititz, from 7 to 10 p.m. The event, designed for adults age 21 and over, will include special drinks, food, live music, dancing, and Film Noir-inspired activities.

Branle used the phrases "black-and-white kind of 1940s glamour" and "smoky cinematic drama" to describe the intended atmosphere of the evening. Attendees will be encouraged to dress in keeping with the era. "A trench coat (maybe)," suggested Branle. "It's certainly not required, but it adds an element of fun to the event." The theme will also be apparent in the activities, which will include quizzes revolving around famous actors and actresses from the time and vignettes. Quiz participants may be eligible for prizes.

"There will be lots of interesting things to look at," noted Branle, adding that the look of the venue will be heavily inspired by the theme as well. "One of the coolest draws is the (creativity of the) decorating committee," said Branle. "(Attendees want to see how) they will have transformed the Brownstone Manor to fully match the theme."

"The real star of the night will be the food," Branle, pointed out, noting that locally owned organizations have been enlisted for the dining pleasure of the guests. "Lititz Springs Inn and Spa will do crab cakes, a carving station, and a large selection of heavy hors d'oeuvres that all sound ridiculously delicious," said Branle, who noted that a special Lititz-themed cocktail will be created by Stoll & Wolfe Distillery and a craft beer will be provided by Fetish Brewing Company.

Music for the evening will be provided by Pocketful O' Soul, known for renditions of dance songs. Branle noted that the band will play cover tunes and there will be plenty of room for dancing. "There will be some seating and high-top tables to watch the goings on, but we encourage people to dance and have fun," she said.

Tickets, which are necessary to attend the event, may be purchased at http://www.venturelititz.eventbrite.com or at the Lititz Springs Inn and Spa, 14 E. Main St., Lititz.
