Start An Autumn Morning With A Harvest Breakfast

Lancaster Central Market is the oldest public farmers market in the country, and it's located in the city of Lancaster at 23 N. Market St. Three days a week, more than 60 local vendors sell from their stands in the 1889 Market House. For over 20 years, Lancaster Central Market has hosted an annual Harvest Breakfast event. The breakfast was canceled last year due to the pandemic, but organizers recently announced that it will return.

Harvest Breakfast will take place at Lancaster Central Market on Saturday, Oct. 2, from 8 a.m. to noon. It is an event suitable for people of all ages. There will be face painting and pumpkin painting, Tractor Jerry and the Mud Bucket will provide live music from 10 a.m. to noon, and fresh food will be available for purchase from 10 different market stands.

"This is a free event with something for everyone," said Tarrah Berrier, owner of the Turkey Lady stand at Lancaster Central Market. "It's family friendly and gives people a chance to meet up with their market friends in a different way. You're supporting locally owned small businesses and enjoying all of the fresh offerings this time of year brings to Lancaster County."

The Harvest Breakfast is a rain-or-shine event. Parking will be available on the street, in parking garages, or in private lots. Berrier will sell turkey sausage topped with melted cheese and grilled peppers and onion over an english muffin. Other vendors will sell scones, bacon, eggs, apple cider donuts, breakfast burritos, and more.

Berrier mentioned that she is looking forward to everyone being together after not holding the event last year. "It's a great vibe for the market community during an amazing time of year," she said.
