Local author Brian Eltz recently released a new children's book, "Perking Up Poe," which introduces young readers to the world of Edgar Allan Poe.

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, the new book tells the story of a day in the life of Poe, including an unexpected visit from two young children. In addition, Easter eggs are hidden throughout the illustrations.

Eltz earned bachelor's and master's degrees in English literature from the University of Scranton. After moving to Lancaster, Eltz began teaching English composition at HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, serving as an adjunct professor for more than 10 years.
