LVC Production To Celebrate Female Musician

Lebanon Valley College (LVC), 101 N. College Ave., Annville, will present "Nadia" on Sunday, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m. in the Lutz Auditorium in LVC's Blair Center for the Arts. Admission is free.

This one-woman play celebrates the music and life of Nadia Boulanger, who was the first woman to conduct the New York Philharmonic and produce and conduct recordings, as well as the first professional female organist. Boulanger became a mentor to thousands of American and European musicians, from Aaron Copland to Quincy Jones.

The play "Nadia," performed by Yale professor Adriana Zabala, LVC's Eric Fung, and Minnesota violinist Stephanie Arado, interweaves chamber music with Boulanger's life story. Although her cello career is Minnesota-based, the author, Mina Fisher, is a Hershey native, and her parents taught music education in Hershey and at Millersville University.
