LucyFest To Feature Adoptable Pets, Displays, Vendors And More

The Shops at Rockvale, 35 S. Willowdale Drive, Lancaster, will host LucyFest 2021, an anti-puppy mill awareness and fundraiser event, on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. right next to the Disney Store. Parking and admission are free, and the event will be pet friendly.

LucyFest is a celebration of rescue animals. Inspired by Lucy, her puppy mill survivor, Lynn Johnson founded LucyCares with the goal of providing financial support to local animal shelters and rescues. LucyFest is an annual fundraising event. Its message is to "Make the Right Choice; Make the Difference."

The event will include displays by rescue groups, vendors and food trucks. There will be a pet parade, pet costume contest, paw printing station and artists available to sketch pets from a photo. There will be a sale of baked goods, and attendees will have a chance to win gift baskets.

Janie Jenkins, co-founder of Stop Online Puppy Mills will speak. Kellers Cause, a Maryland-based nonprofit, will present pet demonstrations in the parking lot. Kellers Cause is dedicated to raising awareness and rescuing and training double merles and other deaf and blind dogs, with a focus on behavior and mental health.

Chester County's Lucky Dawg Animal Rescue will have adoptable cats, kittens and dogs on-site. Pet attendees will receive a free LucyFest bandana.
