Pie Sale To Benefit Animal House Project

"(We hope that people will) help support Animal House Project by purchasing yummy pies from Shady Maple for (their) Thanksgiving dinner," said MaryBeth Yannessa, board president of the Animal House Project dba Chester County Pet Food Pantry, when announcing the charity's November pie sale.

Orders for the pies, being supplied by Shady Maple Farm Market in East Earl, will be accepted through Sunday, Nov. 7. Varieties of the 9-inch pies that are available include pumpkin, apple crumb and shoofly. Pies will be available for pickup on Tuesday, Nov. 23, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the pantry, located at 1055 S. Hanover St., Suite 1, Pottstown, in North Coventry Township.

To place a pie order, email info@animalhouseproject.org, send a message on the organization's Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/AnimalHouseProject1 or call 484-558-0467. Checks and PayPal will be accepted for payment.

Yannessa also announced that Animal House Project will participate in PHestivaL of Trees this year at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks on Friday, Nov. 12 through Sunday, Nov. 14. Yoshi, the pantry's spokespuppy, will be on hand for the event.

Animal House Project volunteers will decorate five trees in different themes and are in need of ornaments for four of the special trees. Ornament themes include dog, cat, Mardi Gras and Halloween. Ornament donations will not be returned, since the trees will be sold, and proceeds will benefit area rescues and Animal House Project. Animal House Project dba Chester County Pet Food Pantry is a charitable, all-volunteer organization that provides pet food to pet owners on a monthly basis. Distributions take place on the first Saturday of every month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the pantry's location in North Coventry Township. The next scheduled pantry day will be on Saturday, Nov. 6.

The goal of the pantry, which serves clients in Chester, Berks and Montgomery counties, is to help keep companion pets in their homes and out of shelters. In addition to pet food, the organization provides spaying, neutering and low-cost vaccination of pantry clients' pets.

Yannessa noted that the pantry is always in need of financial donations, pet food donations and volunteers willing to work at events and on distribution days. In addition, an outdoor bin is located at the site for those who would like to drop off donations of dog and cat food.
