Library Posts Programs

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programs. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and require registration by visiting http://www.mslibrary.org or calling 717-653-1510.

The library will close at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, and will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 25.

Gently used books and media can be donated at the self-service shed behind the library on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Community members may donate to the library during the Extraordinary Give on Friday, Nov. 19.

All children and family programs will be in person only and outside when possible.

Children in kindergarten through grade 12 may participate in the Youth Fall Reading Program through Saturday, Nov. 27. This program encourages children to read at least 20 minutes a day, and prizes will be awarded. Youths may pick up papers at the library's front desk.

Other child, youth and family activities will include Family Story Time on Wednesdays, Nov. 17 and 24, and Thursdays, Nov. 11 and 18, at 10:30 a.m.; a Homeschool Art Class, for children age 7 and up, on Nov. 11 at 1:30 p.m.; and Fun Family Bingo, for people age 7 and up, on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m., with space limited. Families may also visit the library for Fun Fort Friday on Nov. 12 from 5 to 6 p.m. Attendees may bring blankets or sheets, flashlights, and a drink. Space is limited.

Miss Jan will combine her STEM and History Mystery programs this month to offer Homeschool STEM-Mystery on Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m. Children age 7 and up may participate.

Santa will visit the library on Saturdays, Nov. 27 and Dec 11, from 10 a.m. to noon, sponsored by the Mount Joy Chamber of Commerce.

A variety of programs will also be available for adults. Adults may visit the Puzzle Swap display in the library to give away or pick up gently used puzzles.

Adults may participate in two reading challenges, with entry forms available at the library. One winner is chosen each month. Through Sunday, Nov. 14, participants should read or listen to a book about the U.S. military or a member thereof. From Monday, Nov. 15, to Tuesday, Nov. 30, they should read or listen to a book about friends.

Programs for adults will also include Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Monday, Nov. 22, at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Northwest Book Club on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m.; A Gathering of Artists Club on Nov. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m.; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on Saturday, Nov. 20, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; and Lit Lovers Book Club on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 6:30 p.m.

Those who would like information about enrolling in Medicare are invited to attend a one-hour presentation by Julie Meyers on Nov. 15 at 10:30 a.m. Additionally, they may call the library to sign up for 15-minute appointments from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 15 to ask basic questions about the enrollment process. Meyers is bilingual and can assist Spanish-speaking participants.

Make-It Monday - Cookie Decorating With a Pro will take place on Nov. 15 at 6 p.m., presented by Tess Fernald of The Bake Shoppe at Country Table. Attendees should bring up to one dozen flat cookies to decorate. Space is limited to 12 people age 16 and up.
