Wreath-Laying Event Planned At Lancaster Cemetery

The Red Rose Blue Star Moms, PA202 Chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America Inc., will host the first-ever Wreaths Across America ceremony at Lancaster Cemetery, 205 E. Lemon St., Lancaster, on Saturday, Dec. 18, at noon.

What began in 1992 with a trailer load of wreaths, decorated by volunteers and laid at the graves of fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery, has now become a national organization with over 2,500 participating locations all focused on the mission to remember, honor and teach.

The ceremony will include participation by local veterans' organizations, such as the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard, along with the presentation of ceremonial wreaths representing the U.S. Marines, Navy, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard and Space Force. There will also be an opportunity to sponsor a wreath to be placed at one of the over 1,200 veterans' graves throughout the cemetery. Volunteers will lay the sponsored wreaths.
