Heritage Chorale Sets Christmas Concert

The Heritage Chorale of Lancaster will present its 2021 Christmas concert, "Sweet Was the Song," on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 4 p.m. at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 308 Petersburg Road, Lititz. Chorale members will be masked.

Led by music director Barry L. Sawyer, with accompanist Anne L. Lefever, the chorale will present a program that will include a mix of modern and traditional settings of Christmas songs, such as "Christmas Lullaby" and "All Bells in Paradise" by John Rutter, "Sweet Was the Song" by Grayson Ives, "Born in a Stable" by Philip Stopford, and "Silent Night" and "The First Noel" by Dan Forrest. Other selections will include the Renaissance Psallite "Sing Your Psalms to the Holy Child" and a contemporary setting of the 1582 text "Ecce Novum Gaudium (Behold a New Joy)" by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo.

The Heritage Chorale of Lancaster is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that is based on the art of bel canto, which emphasizes purity of tone, contoured phrasing, and vocal blend.

No tickets are required for the Christmas concert, but freewill offerings will be accepted. For information about the chorale, visit http://www.theheritagechorale.org.
