Rotary Honors Students Of The Month

The Twin Valley Rotary Club recently honored Twin Valley High School (TVHS) seniors Kimberly "Kimmy" Case and Chris Aita as its December Students of the Month. The students were honored for their participation in extracurricular activities and outstanding academic achievement. The presentation was made at the club's weekly meeting on Dec. 15.

Kimmy is a four-year member of Mini-THON, currently serving as club overall; a member of the National Honor Society; and a student representative to the Twin Valley Community Education Foundation. She is also involved in Student Council, where she sits on the executive board as the club's intern. Kimmy has played golf on the school's team for two years and competed at the Berks County girls' golf tournament. Additionally, she plans to shadow the director of communications and community engagement for the Reading Royals ice hockey team. Kimmy was named junior prom princess and won an award for her work in Caroline McRobbie's Pennsylvania and Local History course.

Kimmy was offered a Spirit of Atlantic scholarship from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) for her academic achievements. She plans to attend FAU in the fall to study broadcast journalism, with the goal of becoming a sports broadcaster in the NHL.

Previously a student in the Perkiomen Valley School District, Chris moved into the Twin Valley School District in sixth grade. Since then, he has been active in the school community, participating in track and field, winter track and field, cross-country, Student Council and Ski Club. Chris was a part of the record-breaking 4-by-400-meter relay team during his sophomore indoor track season. He has maintained a GPA over 4.0 and is in the top 10% of his class. Chris plans to attend Penn State University to major in business.
