Bird Club Plans Trips

The Lancaster County Bird Club (LCBC) will offer two field trips in January. The events are free and open to the public. Participants must register with the group leader prior to the day of the trip.

On Saturday, Jan. 22, participants will meet at Riverfront Park near Marietta for a 10 a.m. start. Target birds will be mergansers and other winter waterfowl along the river as well as ruby and golden-crowned kinglets, brown creeper, and yellow-bellied sapsucker in nearby trees. On Saturday, Jan. 29, the club will host a trip at 9 a.m. at Safe Harbor Dam and Observation Site Road in Conestoga. This trip is designed for beginning birders, but people of all experience levels are invited. Loaner binoculars will be available. Target birds include waterfowl, bald eagles, raptors, and winter migrants. Contact Roger Stoner at 717-393-9030.
