CrossNet Banquet To Feature Brian Dawkins

Livestream Links Available For Annual Event

"Brian Dawkins is a former Eagles player," said Meredith Dahl, executive director of CrossNet Ministries in New Holland. "He is a Hall of Famer who was known as 'the Wolverine,' and he is well-loved around here."

Response to invitations to the 2022 CrossNet banquet was brisk, and space was limited. The in-person banquet, which will be held on Tuesday, March 29, at the Shady Maple Banquet Center, has sold out. Links to the livestream event, which will begin at 7 p.m., are still available for purchase. Those who purchase a link will be instructed to pick up table supplies and a gift for each viewer at the CrossNet offices, 123 W. Franklin St., New Holland, during the week prior to the event.

Dawkins, who played 16 seasons in the National Football League, spent three seasons with the Denver Broncos following his stint with the Eagles. Dawkins was named to nine Pro Bowls and five All-Pro first teams. He played in one Super Bowl with the Eagles and served as the team's executive of football operations for player development.

"Dawkins will share his story about what God has done in his life to encourage others to make an impact in their community," said Dahl, who noted that Dawkins' book, "Blessed by the Best - My Journey to Canton and Beyond," is a recent release.

The theme of this year's banquet is "Your Story. My Story. God's Story." Dahl noted that videos of three stories of local people who have interacted with CrossNet will be shared. "(The videos will show) how God is telling a story with their lives," explained Dahl. "I think people will be encouraged to hear the stories of what is happening in the community and want to get involved in some way." Dahl noted that CrossNet is in need of volunteers in several areas. In addition, Dahl will give an update on the ministry, including information on CrossNet's housing project. Carl Edwards, director of development with CrossNet, will serve as master of ceremonies.

"CrossNet encourages New Hollanders to attend virtually ... to purchase local meals, and enjoy a wonderful evening at home with friends and family," said Dahl, who hoped that area residents will consider hosting watch parties. "It will be an engaging (event). You don't want to miss it," she said, noting that area residents may join together with the community from the comfort of their own homes.

Readers who wish to purchase the link may do so at http://www.elancocross.org or come into the office to make the purchase. Confirmation of purchase and instructions for picking up supplies will be sent. Individuals who have questions may email office@elancocross.org or call 717-355-2454.
