Pianist To Present Concert

Gianne Ge Zhu, pianist, will perform on Saturday, March 19, at 7 p.m. at the Lancaster Church of the Brethren (COB), 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster, as part of the church's Starlight Tea Concert Series. The program will include pieces by Chopin, Beethoven, and Mozart. Tea and cookies will be served following the concert, resuming a tradition that had been discontinued by COVID-19 concerns.

Born in Jiangsu, China, Zhu has been studying piano since age 5 and has performed as a soloist in the U.S., China, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Malta. She has been a prize winner and finalist in national and international piano competitions.

Since 2015, Zhu has accompanied flutist Guilherme Andreas, actively performing in the U.S. The duo recorded an album titled "Beyond Bossa."

In addition to a doctoral degree from James Madison University, Zhu earned Master of Music degrees in piano performance, piano pedagogy, and music theory pedagogy and a Bachelor of Music from Peabody Conservatory.

She has spent time in the Lancaster area during her training and while preparing for piano performances. She has performed in several venues in the area.

The admission-free Starlight Tea Concert Series is supported by patrons and freewill offerings received at the concerts.
