Hubley Announced As Heart Ball Chair

The American Heart Association has named Susan Hubley, vice president of corporate social responsibility at Capital Blue Cross, as chair of the 2022 Capital Region Heart Ball, set for Saturday, April 2, at the Hershey Lodge, 325 University Drive, Hershey. In this role, Hubley is focused on driving equitable health for every member of the community and raising funds to support the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association.

Hubley has over 30 years of community relations experience in the health care industry. In her role at Capital Blue Cross, Hubley leads a team focused on strengthening outreach initiatives and community partnerships and managing the corporate giving process. Hubley also works to raise awareness and grow the company's participation in the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) through education and community outreach in the Capital Blue Cross service area.

Previous to serving as Heart Ball chair, Hubley served on the event's executive leadership team and led other campaigns for the American Heart Association locally, including serving as chair of the 2020 and 2021 Go Red for Women campaigns. In addition to her service to the American Heart Association, Hubley currently serves on the board of directors for the YWCA Greater Harrisburg and Tres Bonne Annee, and she is a member of the United Way of the Capital Region's community impact committee. She was recently recognized by the West Shore Chamber of Commerce with the Visionary Award for her leadership in the community. Hubley is a graduate of Shippensburg University.

As Heart Ball chair, Hubley leads a six-person executive leadership team that comprises Ron Bonacci, vice president of marketing and advertising, Weis Markets; Ellen Kyzer, vice president, client and community relations director, PNC Bank; Rhonda Laing, senior community relations consultant, Capital Blue Cross; Courtney Levengood, community relations coordinator, Capital Blue Cross; Shelly Miller, manager of cardiovascular/thoracic outreach and recruitment, UPMC; and Jessica Ritchie, vice president of development, UPMC Pinnacle Foundation.

The dollars raised by the Capital Region Heart Ball fund the mission of the American Heart Association to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives while working toward the association's 2024 Health Equity Impact Goal to reduce barriers to health care access and quality.
